Paul Spano has spent more than four decades building a respected career in the title insurance industry, beginning in 1985. While grounded in deep experience, he has remained firmly focused on the future—intentionally cultivating a dynamic, forward-thinking team positioned to serve clients for decades to come. By balancing legacy with innovation, Paul has guided the firm’s continued growth while ensuring it remains relevant in an ever-evolving industry. He is widely regarded as one of the industry’s most respected professionals, known for his integrity, leadership, and enduring commitment to service. Paul has served as an executive committee member of the NYS Land Title Association for many years helping shape governmental laws, rules and regulations affecting the industry and the consumer.

Outside of his professional work, Paul and his family enjoy exploring the landscapes and cultural richness of Italy—from historic cities to coastal and countryside destinations. They value immersing themselves in local traditions, staying in distinctive accommodations, and reconnecting with their familial roots—experiences that create meaningful and lasting memories.

Tom has concentrated on real estate transactions since beginning his legal career in 1983. Over the decades, he has earned a reputation as one of the industry’s most respected Title Counsel. With extensive experience representing major lenders and a deep understanding of Title Insurance, Tom is frequently entrusted by clients to guide them through even the most complex real estate transactions with confidence and precision.

Working on the theory that there are 25 hours in each day, and 8 days in each week, Tom, in addition to his duties as General Counsel at Spano, is a long-time, and still active, member of the Syosset Fire Department Hook & Ladder Co. 1. Concomitant with that, he is the Chairman of the Nassau County Firefighters Burn Center Foundation. In 2019, Tom took what had been a hobby to the next step, and became licensed as a New York City sightseeing guide, and now offers history-and-architecture walking tours focused mainly on Manhattan and the West Bronx. Ann Marie brings a strong background in sales and business development, with a proven ability to build lasting relationships and deliver results. She shares Spano Abstract’s philosophy of achieving growth through exemplary customer service and is dedicated to ensuring clients receive the highest level of support and attention.

With a client-focused approach, Ann Marie works closely with customers to understand their needs and provide solutions that contribute to successful transactions and long-term partnerships. Outside the office, she spends her leisure time with her family, including her dogs and chickens.

Emilia brings over 40 years of experience in the title industry, delivering knowledgeable, detail-oriented service from application through closing. Her deep understanding of the title process, combined with her unwavering commitment to client care, has earned her a loyal and long-standing client base.

When Emilia is not working in the office or staying busy around the house, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her 3 grandchildren. She finds joy in simple pleasures like going on walks, watching cooking shows and tending to her garden, where she nurtures both plants and peace of mind.

As Recordings Supervisor, Jeanine oversees the entire document recording process, ensuring every detail is accurate and compliant. She manages the submission of transfer tax payments, coordinates timely recording of all documents, and ensures that every transaction is handled with precision. Her meticulous attention to detail and expertise in recording procedures keeps operations running smoothly and builds confidence for clients and colleagues alike.

When away from the office, Jeanine enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is an avid reader, loves to soak up the sun at the beach, and travel with her husband.

Maddalena is a college student at Adelphi University. She works in the office assisting the recording department, where she reviews and organizes documents to ensure accuracy before submission. Her attention to detail and dedication help keep the department running smoothly.

Outside the office, she is an avid reader, enjoys iced coffee, and often sketches in her notebook, blending creativity with curiosity in every aspect of her life.

Michael is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law and a member of the New York Bar. He has over 20 years of experience representing private and corporate clients in all aspects of real estate law. His practice includes institutional financing, mortgage closings, real estate development, zoning and land use matters, sales and acquisitions, leasing, and landlord–tenant disputes. Michael brings extensive experience guiding clients through complex real estate transactions and legal issues with a practical, solutions-focused approach. Michael’s versatile background and practical approach to problem solving make him a valuable member of the Spano Abstract legal team.

In his free time, Michael enjoys writing for film and theatre.

Shari brings over 35 years of experience in the title industry to the Spano team. As a report typist, she is known for her accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail. In addition to preparing reports, Shari warmly answers incoming calls and greets clients at the front desk with professionalism and friendliness, ensuring every client feels welcome and well cared for from the moment they connect with the office.

Vivian De Risi brings more than three decades of comprehensive experience to her role as Office Manager. Throughout her career, she has developed the expertise in managing the critical tasks involved in the flow of title orders from application to closing. Her extensive background includes key positions across nearly every department within a title organization, including Recordings, Escrows, Bookkeeping and Accounting, and supervision of the Closing Desk. This well-rounded experience gives Vivian a unique, operationally informed perspective that strengthens both efficiency and accuracy.

By drawing on her broad industry knowledge and hands-on leadership experience, Vivian successfully oversees the financial and administrative operations essential to running a seamless and compliant title business.

Away from the office, Vivian enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children. She loves traveling and sightseeing, and loves to cook, especially experimenting with the latest trending recipes. When it’s game time, all bets are off—she’s a loud and proud fan of the New York Yankees and cheers them on every chance she gets.
